HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA
PARENTS AND STUDENTS WELCOME!
Meet The Orchestras...
Mill Creek Middle School features a 7th Grade "Concert Orchestra" and a 8th Grade "Bulldog Philharmonic". Both orchestras are audition based for students with prior knowledge of basic string playing skills. Students have the opportunity to explore music through performance of music composed by Mozart, Bach, Mahler and much more.
Kent-Meridian High School features the "Royal Symphony Orchestra" and new this year "String Fusion"!
KM's Royal Symphony Orchestra is an audition based 9th-12th grade orchestra made up of intermediate and advanced musicians with prior experience playing string instruments. This course is designed to develop musicianship, instrumental skills, and rehearsal skills.
KM's New String Fusion! is a chamber orchestra that in addition to playing the traditional classical literature also diversifies string playing by playing jazz, rock, pop and other selections both acoustic and amplified. This class meets before school during the zero hour for high school credit.
The main mission of Orchestra at Kent-Meridian and Mill Creek is to learn and perform entertaining music and advanced literature for the school and community, while developing advanced string skills and having fun!
KENT-MERIDIAN MUSIC!
Thank you all for your support. We
received 2391 votes placing us just above the middle nationally! Unfortunately
we did not win the $10,000 to $50,000 in prize money to go toward
supporting music through GLEE’s Give A Note National Competition.
We do applaud the winners as there is a great need for funding of
the arts nationally and are thankful for what we do have in our
schools. Kent-Meridian was well represented in GLEE's National
contest!
