Student Library Use

Students can visit the Library in a variety of ways:

Independently, before or after school and during lunch

During class individually or with a small group to checkout books, read,  research, or study

Maximum of three (3) students from a class at one time and each student must have a pass or be listed on a pass issued by teacher

With their teacher and his/her class

Library Expectations

·         Respectful       

Patrons using the Kentridge Library are expected to respect others by contributing to the quiet work environment. 

·         Responsible!

The Kentridge Code of Conduct and behavior expectations apply at all times while in the Library.  .  Card playing, online games, and similar activities are not permitted..  Students are responsible for saving files in the correct location (H-drive, S-drive or flash drive ). Files saved on local computer will be deleted on computer restart.

·         Cooperative!

Patrons are reminded that all food and drink are prohibited within the public areas of the library.  Cell phones and other personal electronic devices are prohibited in the library..  

 

Printing Services

Acceptable/No Charge: One copy of each page completed necessary assignment documents

Acceptable/ Fee:   AP Study Guides, information directly from the internet, worksheet, assignment guides, personal, and non-school document or any additional copies

 Not Acceptable: PowerPoint slides without prior approval

The fee charge is .15 cents per page.  Students will be asked to pay for printing when they pickup their print jobs at the library circulation desk. Print punch cards are available for purchase.

Limited color printing is available base on approval by Library staff with a cost of .30 cent per page.

Circulation Procedures

Borrowing Privileges

Kentridge students will checkout library materials using their ID card.  Students with overdue items are not allowed to check out additional materials until overdue items are renewed or returned.

·         Books may be borrowed  for up to  three-weeks and renewed once

·         Circulating reference books are loaned overnight or until the next school day and limited to one renewal.

·         Periodicals are loaned for one week with one renewal. A maximum of 3 magazines per student

·         Non-circulating reference collections are for in library use only.

Lost or Damaged Materials

Patrons who lose library materials are charged the replacement cost plus a five dollars processing fee.  Students returning damaged materials will be charged a fine based on assessed damage.  Kentridge library does not charge daily overdue fines.

 

Photocopying Services

A coin operated photocopier is available for student use.  There is a .15 cent per copy charge for photocopies set by the company that owns the copier machine. Staff photocopying should be taken to the IMRC or faculty room.
