Here's your chance to help others in the community and learn some new skills!
Volunteer Application Available!

Kent School District's Bridging The Gap Student Computer Program is looking for volunteers to assist in several areas of the project.  You may be interested in helping in one or more of these ways.  Anyone from 8th grade up may volunteer to help. 

How You Can Help
Trainers:  You will be training families when they receive their computers as part of the program. Student leaders will assist volunteers to give one-on-one help to the families as they get hands-on instruction during the training session. This job is vital and will prepare families to successfully use their first computer at home.

Translators:  If you speak multiple languages, we will have several families who could benefit from your interpretive skills. We will especially need help with Spanish, Russian, Punjabi, Karen, Ukranian, and Vietnamese. 

Technical Types:  We will need some technical support on site during the sessions to test the monitors and make sure that each reconfigured computer is working properly. These jobs include testing various computer components such as keyboards, mice, CPUs, and monitors.

Movers:  We need lots of strong bodies who can help the families get the computers into their cars.  Lifters get lots of kudos from families!

Greeters and Organizers:  If you would like to greet families and get their paperwork processed as they arrive, this would be a tremendous help, and it would free up the trainers to concentrate on the teaching.  We have quite a bit of record keeping to do in this process.  We also need smiling faces at the door!

Jack-of-All-Trades:  If you don't really know what your skill areas are, but you would love to help, we can still use your help!  We need people to run errands for us, to clean computers before granting them to each family, sort keyboards and mice, tape together boxes, and lots of other odd jobs.  Any time you can give will be most appreciated!
